By Adam LeffmanIn the space of three days Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal has turned his side into a Premier League force.
With United’s first win of the season, it was a big step towards the top of the table.
Now, the club’s supporters are looking to him to do more than simply turn around a disappointing season.
“We need to do what we’ve been doing for three years now.
It’s important that we make the most of this opportunity,” said United fan David Williams, who attended the match at Old Trafford.”
We are in the middle of the Premier League table.
That’s a good place to be and we’ve got a lot of good players here.
We need that confidence to make the next step and we are in a great place.””
You don’t know if we’ll make it until next year.
But we can do what’s necessary and win the title,” added Williams.
And that, of course, would mean United’s fans need to turn their focus to the next phase of the campaign.
The team have a difficult schedule ahead, with the final two games of the Barclays Premier League season at home to Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, Van Gaal has said he expects them to finish in the top four and play in the Europa League final.
They have three games in hand over Arsenal and two in hand for Chelsea.
