By Jamie Phillips-LarsenTigers are playing their first home game of the season on Friday night against the Florida Panthers, and a crowd of 2,000 fans could be heard at the MCG when they arrive.
The game will also be streamed live on TV2, with highlights on the TV3 app.
Tigers players Ryan Ellis and Josh Morrissey are in attendance, with Ellis looking a little tired but he is eager to get to the game.
“The crowd is so excited,” Ellis said.
“We’ve had a really good start to the season, and we’ve got to keep pushing on.”
The Tigers are off for the first time since the 2017 Stanley Cup Final, and Ellis is looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s been a long road, and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said.
But the big question is when do they play again?
“I don’t think it’s something we can rush into,” Ellis admitted.
“It’s going have to be something where we work really hard, and then hopefully it’s a lot easier on everyone when it comes back.”
The first game in London is also a chance to get a glimpse at some of the Tigers players who are currently with the club.
Nick Bonino has just returned from a two-month layoff, and is eager for a game against the Hurricanes.
“I’m excited,” Bonino said.
“They’ve been playing well, and I’m looking forward for it.”
The big question will be when does he return?
“He’s getting a bit of rest, so hopefully we can get him back in the lineup,” Ellis laughed.
Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster, with more coming soon.
