Former Liverpool midfielder John Stones has ‘no intention’ of leaving Anfield

Liverpool star John Stones, who joined Everton last summer, has been forced to turn down offers from Chelsea and Manchester City to stay at Anfield.

A statement on Stones’ official website on Wednesday said: “I would like to express my appreciation to Everton and Liverpool for their support and interest in my career.

I have no intention of leaving the club or the football club.”

Stones, who was born in Liverpool and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, is on loan at Goodison Park from Everton until the end of the season.

The former England captain, who made his debut for Liverpool in the Europa League in 2006, is expected to leave Everton at the end on an initial three-year deal.

The 29-year-old scored 20 goals in 39 appearances for Everton in all competitions last season, while helping the club to a Europa League place.

He also played for the Reds in the FA Cup last season.

Stones made his Everton debut against Manchester United in the 2012 FA Cup semi-final and then made his first appearance for the club against Swansea City in the last eight of the Champions League in August.
